 Join James Knight, Founder of Gentle Somatic Yoga®, and GSY Guest Teacher,
Rachael Shepherd, as they introduce a NEW method of building core strength called
Somatic Stability™.

James and Rachael have co-created this new method inspired by mat Pilates combined with the nueroscience and method of GSY. James and Rachael will guide you through two somatic movement classes, and after each class there will be a review session (Learning Laboratory), where you can ask questions about the method, how to tailor the movements for your body, and integrate what you've learned into your daily self-care practices.

What You Will Learn

During this livestream workshop you will go deeper into learning how to tap into your own somatic intelligence and make nourishing choices how to incorporate movement as a lifestyle.

Two Gentle Somatic Yoga® (GSY) inspired classes that will invite you to learn how to use GSY principles to increase core muscle strength, balance, coordination, and increase bone density. The result can be a whole self embodiment of alignment, fortitude, and confidence.

Two sessions of reviewing each Somatic Movement based sessions. These "learning laboratory" sessions are designed for you being able to ask questions and customize these techniques into your daily home practices.

RECORDINGS:

All sessions are livestreamed and recorded.* If you are unable to join us live for a portion of the sessions you will have access to the video recordings for 30 days after the program ends. Recordings of all sessions are usually emailed within 3 days and are available to program participants only.  

*James and Rachael will be the only ones spotlighted on your screen for most of the time. The exception is during the Learning Labs and Q & A sessions. You're welcome to turn off your camera if you don't wish your image to be recorded.

Deep Dive Program Schedule 

Join James Knight and Rachael Shepherd for an inspiring day of movement education and the embodiment of the Whole-Self.

Proposed schedule - may change depending on the groups needs

Session One:  9am - 11:30 am (Pacific Daylight Time)


  • Welcome:  Brief introduction of Gentle Somatic Yoga® (GSY) and how James and Rachael came up with this new method 
  • Gentle Somatic Yoga inspired class ~ Somatic Stability 
  • Short break
  • Learning Laboratory and Q & A: James and Rachael will review each of the NEW Somatic Movement Flows® taught in the morning class. During this Learning Lab there will be a brief review of the history, method, neuroscience, and philosophy of GSY. As well, James and Rachael will offer tips and guidelines to help tailor the somatic movements for the comfort and safety of your body. 

Break:  11:30am - 12:00pm

About James

James has been an E-RYT, CHSE (Certified Hanna Somatic Educator), and Integrative Therapist for 30+ years. As one of the early pioneers of bridging Somatics and Yoga, his passion is to inspire and encourage others to live a fulfilling life of physical, emotional and spiritual freedom.

From his combined experience as a lifelong yogi, intuitive bodyworker, psychotherapist, and movement educator, James founded a method of integrating what he discovered to be the most progressive, life-enhancing techniques into an embodied practice of mindful movement. Gentle Somatic Yoga® (GSY) was born out of years of exploring means of connecting with the deepest aspects of himself.

As an architectural and interior designer, master Feng Shui consultant, and professional photographer, James enjoys designing sacred spaces and other creative endeavors that reflect his spiritual aesthetic. On a personal level, he enjoys spending quality time with loved ones while cultivating and energizing conscious communities.

Currently, James has adapted to offer most of his programs livestreamed. And, to balance it out he also travels internationally to present in-person teacher training certifications, workshops, and Somatic Wellness and Adventure Retreats. Please join him and experience GSY for yourself!

"Namaste! My name is Rachael Shepherd. For me, yoga is a lifestyle that when practiced regularly can provide an abundance of contentment and ease in mind and body everyday. 

I have been certified as a Yoga instructor, Pilates trainer, and a meditation guide. Through the years I have accumulated over 2,000 hours of teaching experience and created a yoga school accredited by Yoga Alliance. 

I have trained in yoga for PTSD with David Emerson, and Gentle Somatic Yoga with James Knight. It is my goal to help create positive change in this world by sharing simple, everyday tools from the yogic traditions and philosophies with people like you."
